Hey! My name is Samantha, owner and main photographer of Samantha Rae Photography! I have loved photos for as long as I can remember, but for some reason it never occurred to me that I could take photos for a living. It was my junior year at UNC Charlotte, as an art/design major, when I realized I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life. So, I talked to a few different people and finally decided on photography! I later found RCC, Randolph Community College, and my photography journey began! RCC is an amazing place and really helped me become the photographer I am today! |
This is my other half, Nicholas! He is a wonderful assistant for sessions and a fantastic second photographer at weddings! He keeps me sane and grounded when the day might be a whole mess of crazy. He didn't know anything about professional photography when I met him, but he is a quick study! I knew that I wanted him to be my go to for weddings because we make such a great team in and out of a professional setting. He has a knack for making people comfortable right away, which is amazing when working with numerous people! We met in the 7th grade, and were friends though middle school, but took different paths once in high school and after graduation. A few years later we started talking again, and here we are married! I truly couldn't have asked for a better man to spend my life with! He is not only a wonderful addition to my business, but also a irreplaceable part of my life! |
These six beautiful souls make our life so much richer! They also happen to be awesome models!
First there was Alaska, a.k.a "Laska". She is a solid white Siberian Husky with beautiful caramel eyes and a dash of bright blue in the corner of one! She stole my heart and the whole bed in 2011! She thinks she's a small dog most days and doesn't realize she's heavy when she stands on us! She talks all the time, except when we ask her to. She's very smart and extremely stubborn, but I love her!
Second came Zuri. She is the first cat I've ever been able to call family. Nicholas and I got her about a week after we got our first apartment. We found her at an adoption fair. Nicholas saw her first and fell in love with the yellow eyed, black fluff ball. She is so weird and perfect at the same time! She was a whole new adventure for me; cats are so very different from dogs. However, it has been an adventure I wouldn't change for the world!
Third, there is Jack or "Jackie". He was another rescue, not from a shelter, but from a family that fell on hard times and could no longer care for, or afford him. Before we brought him home, we knew he would part of our family one day. He is one of the most beautiful and pure souls I've ever met. He wants nothing more than to be with his people and curl up in our laps! He is so loving and gentle, and he always has a huge smile on his face!
Now there is Drogon, the dragon from Game of Thrones! He was originally my sister-in-law's, but she moved somewhere she couldn't take him. So, Nicholas and I took him in! I thought Zuri was a weird cat, but Dro wins hands down! Aside from his weirdness, he is the most affectionate cat I've ever been around. He is constantly wanting attention, and he gives the best head-bumps!
The adorable orange kitty is Natsu, or "Nani" as I call him most days! This little one was brought into our lives when our cousin found and sheltered a very pregnant cat. Nani was one of her kittens. When we saw that tiny, wild blur of orange we just couldn't say no! He is the most curious, adventurous and fearless cat. All he wants is for his canine siblings to love and cuddle him and to nearly make us fall every time we take a step!
As if our fur family wasn't crazy enough, we added yet another high energy Siberian Husky to the mix! His name is Stark and he has one speed, full force all the time. Stark came to us as a rescue. He had been from home to home after his original people could no longer care for him. He was stressed and on guard around us, and it took him a bit to warm up and trust us. Now, he is the most loving and loyal dog!
It's safe to say that we are animal people! We just love them all!
